There are many different types of gamebooks, most of them appearing on shelves in the eighties and enjoying enormous popularity. With close to two hundred titles, Choose Your Own Adventure was by far the longest-running series, while the Fighting Fantasy™ series by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone quickly became a phenomenon following the publication of “The Warlock of Firetop Mountain” in August 1982.
